Training & Education
Arbor Excellence by Scott Carlson BCMA
This program has been established to maximize our impact in the tree industry. Over the last 20 years, we have seen and heard so many stories about close calls, deaths and injuries while doing tree work. We have also observed practices performed by uneducated and inexperienced arborist that have caused major problems for our trees and the properties they used to grown on. Lastly we have watched companies with good people fail to stay in business because of compliance and culture issues. Our mission is to address these major fears and frustrations in our industry and help Iowa & Illinois Arborists thrive!
We believe that if we can help provide arborists and the organizations or companies they work for with the proper basic training many of the accidents referenced above can be avoided! This helps the industry by keeping our workers healthy and safe!
We believe that if we can help provide arborists and the organizations or companies they work for with the proper education and explanation of ANSI standards we can impact the trees in our communities! These trees will provide numerous benefits to the properties served and the cities they live in!
We believe that if we can help the arborists and the organizations or companies they work for with some insight on compliance issues associated with the department of agriculture and land stewardship, the department of transportation, the department of labor, OSHA and generally accepted accounting principles while introducing them to organizations like TCIA and ISA we will help in the creation of well rounded economically impacting companies that serve our cities, our trees, and citizens well!
We intend to accomplish these objectives with the following services:
Basic Training Classes – These classes will cover the basics of chipper safety, chain saw operation, tree felling, aerial lift usage, climbing and aerial rescue procedures.
Educational Classes – These classes will focus on the topics included in the ISA Certified Arborists Exams. We will also offer many classes that are specific to the municipal arborist and the management of the urban forest as well.
Business Development Classes – These classes will focus on the main business issues facing tree services today. Topics like Insurance Coverages, Payroll Tax Explanations, Pricing Strategies, Culture, Compliance, Maintenance, Preparing for the Sale of Your Business, & Employee Management .
Tree Consultations – These sessions will be focused on the trees! We will offer inventory and mapping services, management plans, work scope creation and general tree talks!
